Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Buragohain

Guwahati based ophthalmic expert, Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Buragohain specializes in Anterior Segment Diseases, Glaucoma and Neurophthalmology. He is one of the founder directors and consultant ophthalmologists at AKSI Advanced Eye Centre (Guwahati) where he currently practises. Besides this, Dr. Buragohain also extends his professional services to Ayursundra and Guwahati Lions Eye Hospital, located in Guwahati. Dr. Buragohain holds 15 years of clinical experience in ocular care.

Dr. Buragohain’s ophthalmic background stems from MS (Ophthalmalogy) and DNB (Ophthalmalogy) qualifications which have been achieved post completion of MBBS. He completed his MBBS graduation from Guwahati Medical College and his MS training was subsequently finalized from the prestigious Assam Medical College. Furthermore, Dr. Buragohain enhanced his scientific knowledge through the accomplishment of various fellowship programs listed below:
- Fellowship in General Ophthalmalogy (Sankar Deva Netralaya, Guwahati)
- Fellowship in Glaucoma and Neuro-Ophthalmalogy (Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai)
- Sir Ratan Tata Fellowship in Advanced Cataract Surgery (Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai)
- Short term training course on Ocular Ultrasonography in Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, USA

During April 2001 to July 2011, Dr. Buragohain held professional association with Sri Sankara Nethralaya, Beltola Guwahati which translated into a decade of service. He can be credited with 32 paper and poster presentations in national and international conferences. Through his role as a guest lecturer in conferences, he has disseminated a wealth of information pertaining to his field of speciality.
